International Visitors
The International Visitors Program is a cultural interaction experience
in which members of PTPI's worldwide chapters are offered the
opportunity to meet members of chapters in other countries and
experience their way of life.
This is done through host chapter members who provide Homestays for visitors from other countries by inviting them into their homes to spend time with them for a few days. In return, the host families get the chance to come in contact with people from other nations, which helps to create a mutual understanding of each other's culture. The fee is 30 EUR in Europe and 60 USD when visiting overseas chapters. The fee is paid to the hosting chapter for the whole stay.
PTPI's European Conference joins together PTPI members in Europe every year. At this occasion, the European Executive Committee is elected and participants exchange ideas and experiences.
PTPI's European Youth Forum unites young PTPI members from all over Europe who are not 18 years old yet. The aim of this seven-day event is to provide a unique intercultural learning experience for participants. Every year, a different topic and focus is chosen.
European PTPI leaders are invited once a year by PTPI's European Office to join a special seminar. The topic of the Leadership Seminar varies each year, depending on the needs and interests of PTPI chapter presidents and members in Europe.
The School and Classroom Program connects teachers and their students with classes in other countries. Students collaborate on educational projects that expand their understanding of another culture and help them form friendships with their peers abroad. Partner classes interact via teacher-supervised e-mail accounts, online-forums as well as letters and packages exchanged by post. Primary, middle and secondary school classes and youth groups from all countries are welcome to join.
Participating chapters get a chance to offer conversational language classes for a period of 2-4 weeks. In return the teachers receive a cultural experience as they visit the chapter and community. The teachers are either native teachers or non-native with a good command of English. Participating teachers should preferably have had teaching experience. The teaching will be focused on conversational classes, where various topics will be discussed. Participating students should have basic English knowledge. They can be of any age. For the initial phase of this program the main language will be English. We will keep the option open to allow other languages as well.
This world event of PTPI aims at providing a peaceful, learning and open forum, wherein youths and adults from around the world have the opportunity to interact with one another through lectures, workshops and hand-on activities, giving them a realistic and constructive way to understand today’s global issues.
PTPI's Worldwide Conference is held every second year on a different continent. In Europe, the following cities have hosted this important event in recent years: Bern, Switzerland - Chester, United Kingdom - Baveno, Italy. During PTPI's Worldwide Conference, PTPI members meet each other and have an exceptional opportunity to interact with world leaders.
This program offers an exciting opportunity for foreign diplomats and embassy staff to travel outside their city of assignment to various parts of the country and to experience local life and culture. The program can include meetings with local officials and media as well as study visits to businesses, factories, farms, universities, etc., all arranged to accommodate the diplomat's professional and personal interest. Accommodations will be with a local family. Through this "grass roots" experience the international representatives will experience firsthand the variety of local culture and the diversity of its people in the true people-to-people atmosphere. In return, the program gives an opportunity to local PTPI chapters to improve their understanding of other societies, including the people, their values, culture and goals. Through contact with sophisticated representatives of other countries, they also gain a broader global perspective of their country’s relations with other countries.
At PTPI’s Global Youth Forum, young achievers between the ages of 15 and 18 from around the world, explore various perspectives and skills while also experiencing an exciting new group of diverse people and cultures. A variety of dynamic speakers, interactive workshops and rewarding activities highlight this unique youth conference, which is devoted to key components of the PTPI mission: international understanding, education, leadership and humanitarianism. Delegates will also experience the charm and culture of the host city, which changes with every annual event.
Artistic AmbassadorEstablished in 1987, the Artistic Ambassador Program is designed for artists, singers and dancers to travel and perform or display their work. The program takes place at the Worldwide Conferences and in or between local chapters. It supports PTPI's mission by bringing cultures together through the arts - a true universal language.
People to People International participates in a joint international effort to help Iraqi children. The initiative is carried out with VFW Foundation and the worldwide shipper FeDEX in collaboration with Operation Iraqi Children, a grass-roots organization cofounded by actor and director Gary Sinise and Laura Hillenbrand, author of "Seabiscuit: An American Legend".
With Operation Iraqi Children individuals can make a difference. Through the School Supply Kit Program, children can help their Iraqi counterparts by gathering school supplies in school-wide drives. Monetary donations are also encouraged to support the project.
Ambassador Programs offer scientific, technical and professional exchanges that bring delegates together with their overseas counterparts in prearranged activities. Both sides benefit from face-to-face contacts during which information, ideas, and experiences are shared. These exchanges include a variety of fields including medicine, education, social sciences, science and technology, law, arts, agriculture, business, and culture.
